Social Prescribers

Across our GP practices in Richmondshire you can access help and guidance from Social Prescribers. A Social Prescriber’s role is to refer and signpost support in the community in order to improve patient’s health and wellbeing. The referrals are for non-medical needs and are usually to services offered by community-based organisations.

One great example of the activities the Richmondshire Social Prescribing team are getting involved in, is a leading study to discover the benefits on nature-based intervention to help patients with mental health needs.

Green social prescribing supports individuals to access nature-based interventions and activities, such as local walking for health schemes, community gardening, outdoor exercise and conservation volunteering with the aim of improving health and wellbeing.
