Op Courage

Op COURAGE: The Veterans Mental Health and Wellbeing Service provides specialist care and support for those due to leave the armed forces, reservists and those who’ve already left. Developed by veterans, for veterans, Op COURAGE is available across England.

Op COURAGE offers a range of specialist support and treatment for members of the armed forces community, which includes:

·       Helping to recognise and treat early signs of mental health problems, as well as more advanced mental health conditions and psychological trauma

·       Providing support and treatment for co-occurring mental health and substance use

·       Liaising with charities and local organisations to support wider health and wellbeing, such as help with housing, relationships, finances and employment

·       Referring to other NHS services, where needed

·       Recognising that family may also need help and care and supporting them to access this

Op Community

Op Community are an easy and accessible single point of contact for Armed Forces families, carers and communities across Humber and North Yorkshire to help with health and social care needs.

Support offered by Op Community includes:

·       Assist directly and provide avenues of support

·       Liaising with other organisations on your behalf to ensure a smooth transition of your care when moving between areas

·       Ensuring continuation of treatment and considered waiting list positions

·       Providing advice, guidance and support on how to use the NHS

·       Advising on your nearest Veteran Friendly GP Practice

·       Providing access to Social Prescribing Support - helping you to find local health and wellbeing support

·       Putting you in touch with Service Champion in an organisation

·       Providing information on trauma support services for both physical and psychological trauma

Op Nova

Op NOVA, delivered by the Forces Employment Charity and commissioned by NHS England, provides support for veterans who are in contact with the justice system, enabling them to access the services they need.

Op Restore

Op RESTORE: The Veterans Physical Health and Wellbeing Service is an NHS service that supports individuals who have served in, or are leaving, the UK Armed Forces and have continuing, physical health injuries and related medical problems attributed to their time in the Armed Forces.

If you have a physical health injury and related medical problems attributable to your time in Service, Op RESTORE can help by:

·       Ensuring you can access the right care and support

·       Making sure you are treated by people who understand the military and specialise in the type of physical injury and related medical problems you may have

·       Putting together a care plan with you shaped around your specific physical care needs

·       Working with Op COURAGE should you need support for your mental health and wellbeing

·       Supporting you and your family access additional help where needed from Armed Forces charities whom we work in partnership with.

Help for Heroes:

  • Can offer a range of talking therapies to help veterans and their families with their mental health. This can be for many conditions, including depression, anxiety, anger, grief, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
  • Can self refer or professional can refer via Help for Heroes website

PTSD Resolution:

  • Offers counselling to UK armed forces’ Veterans, Reservists and families to relieve mental health problems resulting from military service, to ease reintegration into a normal work & family life
